Guidelines for Project Assignment, Milestone 5: Area intro statements, Area Portfolio collections, Presentation of Individual Rough Cuts/First Drafts
Milestone 5 (15%) is due on Thursday June 21st.
What is expected for the Milestone 5:
Meet with your area team and come up with the following:
1) A text that introduces your area to the public as the front page of your area section of the website. This should be 600-800 words long and include:
- what your area comprises (tangible heritage);
- what state it is currently in
- current plans or visualizations of its future rehabilitation (not yours)
- what connects your individual projects in this area
- future plans that your team has for your area according to your theme
2) A collection of the best images/videos/sounds to represent your area with captions included that make the item meaningful to you (i.e. why did you choose it). Each team should collectively choose 30-60 images depending on the size of the team, with an average of 15-20 items per person. These should be placed in a gallery with your area’s name of the Portfolio catalog. If it is a video or audio file, place it with a placeholder (we’ll show you on Tuesday). Please consider:
- Which item would give someone who has never seen the Presidio an idea about the buildings, layout, condition?
- Which items most accurately represent the area?
- Which items would be the most useful to you, or to another team, or to someone else entirely?
- Do your items represent the full range of the cultural heritage in your area?
3) Have a rough draft of your own project ready to show the class at 2pm.
How to hand in Milestone 5:
- Please post your introduction document to the discussion board on bspace and include the text in the body of the message.
- Please have the images uploaded to Portfolio; we will come around and check the computers.
- The rough draft will be presented in class at 2pm.
